ANDERSON´S OF SHETLAND ED-1 EVEREST 38

「Anderson＆Co(アンダーソンアンドコー)」の「EVEREST(エベレスト)」です。
こちらはその中でも珍しい「ED-1(E-1の倍の糸を使用したもの)モデルです。 

「Anderson＆Co」は 1873年にスコットランド・シェットランド島で創業し、こだわりの良質なシェットランドウールだけを使用したクオリティが極めて高いニットを創業から全てハンドメイドで製作しています。
1953年にイギリスのエドモンド・ヒラリー氏率いるヒマラヤ遠征隊が過酷な気象条件に耐えることができる特別なセーターを発注したのがこの「エベレスト」のニットの誕生でした。
 素材は全てスコットランドの伝統でもあるシェットランド島の特別な羊毛を使用していて、毛足が長くて柔らかく保温性に優れているシェットランドウールは約500年前からスコットランドでは防寒用のニットとして極寒の地に住む人達の体を守ってきました。
まさにイギリスの歴史と共に歩んできた伝統的なアイテムです。
エベレストのニットは、昔と変わらぬ手間の掛かる「フルシームレス製法」を守って作られています。
通常のニットは、袖や身頃などパーツごとに編まれ、リンキングによって組み立てて完成させますが、エベレストのニットは、１本の糸を首から下に順にゆっくりと丁寧に継ぎ目なく編んでいくので、動きやすさに加えて、体にストレスを与えることなく、包み込むような最高の着心地と保温性を約束してくれます。
サイジングも、伝統的な美しいすっきりとしたタイトめのシルエットでかなり魅力的です。
最高の品質と製法で完成した完璧のニットは、まさに一生物と言えるお品です。
これだけ凄いニットですが、ハンドニッターの高齢化が進み、今では絶版となり、新品を手に入れることができなくなりました。
まさに幻のニットです。
